Walking in the Fruit of the Spirit

It’s your ammunition to be Armed and Dangerous to the devil and the flesh

(The chief way you and I are disloyal (ontrou) to Christ

is when we make SMALL what He intended to make LARGE).

(When God has equipped us with His divine powerful tool – and we don’t use it)

By: Pastor George Lehman

Today is a refresher course.

2 Peter 1:12-13 (Amp) “12 Therefore, I will always be ready to remind you of these things, even though you already know them and are established in the truth which is [a]held firmly in your grasp. 13 I think it right, as long as I am in this earthly tent, to inspire you by reminding you,”

Philippians 3:1 (Amp) “Finally, my fellow believers, continue to rejoice and delight in the Lord. To write the same things again is no trouble for me, and it is a safeguard for you.

Jesus set the standard and example for us.

Philippians 2:5-8. (LB) “5 Your attitude should be the kind that was shown us by Jesus Christ, 6 who, though he was God, did not demand and cling to his rights as God, 7 but laid aside his mighty power and glory, taking the disguise of a slave and becoming like men. 8 And he humbled himself even further, going so far as actually to die a criminal’s death on a cross.

1 Peter 4:1 – Arm yourself with the same attitude.

God Himself through what Jesus did bridged the heavens and forever connected us to Himself.

Ephesians 2:13 – “But now you belong to Christ Jesus and though you once were far away from God, now you have been brought very near to Him because of what Jesus did”.

Colossians 1:26-27 (LB) – “26He has kept the secret for centuries and generations past, but now at last it has pleased Him to tell it to those that love Him and live for Him.  27And this is the secret; that Christ in your hearts is your only hope of glory”.

1 Corinthians 6:19 (LB) – “Haven’t you yet learned that your body is the home of the Holy Spirit God gave you, and that He lives within you – your body does not belong to you”.

You must know who you are.  (The story of the Business Class, Pinstripe suite-flyer).

1 John 4:4 – “You are of God (you belong to Him) and you have already defeated and overcome them, because He who lives in you is greater (mightier) than he who is in the world).

The most incredible impact we have – being Armed and Dangerous – is that in Christ Jesus: – We now have the Devine Nature being a part of us and ever ready to manifest through us.

2 Peter 1:3-4. 3 For His divine power has bestowed on us [absolutely] everything necessary for [a dynamic spiritual] life and godliness, through [d]true and personal knowledge of Him who called us by His own glory and excellence. 4 For by these He has bestowed on us His precious and magnificent promises [of inexpressible value], so that by them you may escape from the immoral freedom that is in the world because of disreputable desire, and become sharers of the divine nature.

God’s Devine Nature shows up in and through our lives when we

Walk in the Spirit.

This is the ammunition which keeps the arrows sharp, the gun loaded and you and I Armed and Dangerous.

Do you know what the ammunition is?  The answer is: –

When we Walk in the Fruit of the Spirit.
(Example of a shotgun slug – 9 pellets loaded with power).
Like the Shot gun cartridge, we are loaded with 9 effective FRUIT to cause utter devastation to the enemy, when the Power of God (that is the Gun powder which you are charged with) HIS Devine power WITHIN goes off. (Faith activates it)

What’s in us must be manifested through us.

Philippians 2:5 – Let this same attitude be in you.
Every time you reveal any of the Fruit of the in dwelling Character of Jesus. You are a danger to the enemy and you pull your flesh back into line.

There is nothing on earth that can so powerfully transform us into Christlikeness as the Fruit of the Spirit.

It is only by the help of the Holy Spirit that these can come forth in genuine quality.
The 9 Fruit broken up in 3 parts: –
1) UPWARD Our relationship with God producing –

a. Love: The God kind of Love – powerful, tender and full of compassion – it is an unselfish devotion to others.

b. Joy: Emotional excitement to rejoice, great happiness –

Psalm 51:12: (David said) restore to me the joy.

c. Peace: An inner quietness in storms, trials, hardships turmoil, it passes all understanding

2) Outward Our relationship with our fellow man with God helping us to produce:

a. Patience: Longsuffering – to be patient in the face of offences, trials, difficulties, or hardships. When you are armed with patience, the devil is destroyed before he can start.

b. KINDNESS (God helping us with our relationship with others: (Kindness) it is the attitude with which we deal with others – soft spoken.

Proverbs 15:1 – “A soft answer turns away wrath, but grievous words stir up anger”.

Proverbs 17:9 – “He who covers and forgives an offence seeks love, but he who repeats or harps on a matter separates even close friends”.
Ask yourself the following Question Is it:
T H I N K: Think

b. Goodness: The nature of being good, kind, honest, caring, generous and giving – being a servant – uprightness in heart.

3) INWARD Our Holy Spirit guided and assisted personal Christian conduct showing –

a. Faithfulness: The character that can be relied on – trustworthiness, dependability – being faithful to something you have committed yourself to.

b. Gentleness: Is an attitude and a behaviour in contrast with harshness (wreed). It is also humbleness.

c. SELF-CONTROL or controlling self: Would you agree that most of the other fruit depend on this one. If the enemy is going to attack this is always a good target. Self-control is the ability to imprison – and also keep in control the nature of the flesh.

When we are armed with the Ammunition of the Fruit of the Spirit –

–    You will be an asset to the Kingdom of God

–     And a major danger to the kingdom of darkness.

Spend this week making a study of this.

Test your heart; see how Armed and Dangerous you really are.
