The Greatest Gift of all

The Greatest Gift of all

“All the presents in the world are worth nothing without the presence of Christ!”

Key Scriptures:

Isaiah 9:6 (NIV) – For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

Luke 2:10-11 (NIV) – 10But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. 11Today in the town of David a Saviour has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord.”

This morning, I would like to state that there is a real push from the unsaved or secular world across the globe, not only to take the Bible out of our schools and institutes of learning, but Christianity out of our modern day society and Christ out of Christmas as well! (Xmas / Happy Holidays)

But can I also say that without Christ there can be NO Christmas. For Christmas stands for “Christ mass” meaning to: Celebrate in Mass the birth of Christ!

The primary reason why we as Christian believers celebrate Christmas is to: acknowledge the birth of Jesus Christ, who was:

born as a baby
taught as a child in the Synagogue
walked the earth as a man
was crucified and died….
but rose again according to the Scriptures.

READ Isaiah 9:6 (NIV) – For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

Isaiah the prophet received an accurate prophesy from God 200 years before the actual event….

“For unto us a child is born, a Son is given…”

You see church, God the Father didn’t have to send a Saviour but He demonstrated His love for us by sending Jesus, so that we can be saved by accepting Him into our lives as Lord and Saviour! Good news indeed, amen?

This special gift to us, was notwrapped in gift-wrapping, but in swaddling cloth and lying in a manger surrounded by sheep.
This special gift to us, was given to us to show us the love of God and change our hearts forever!
This special gift to us, was no ordinary baby, but the Saviour of the world (Jesus Christ the Messiah the Anointed One.)

The names given to this child in Isaiah 9:6-7 (Almighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace) allow no possibility for it to mean any other person, church!

This baby was born to be the Saviour of the world,Now even more than ever before. Amen?

As we live in a world that is crying out for solutions to so many challenges, global warming, economic uncertainties, political turmoil, poverty etc, etc…. would you agree that the world is in dire need of a Saviour, church?

And yes we as individuals also need a Saviour from sin and selfishness…

Realize today church that this Christ child was anointed by the Father, to be the Saviour of the world (Luke 2:11 (NIV)– Today in the town of David a Saviour has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord.)

So that prophesies about Him could be fulfilled according to Scriptures!!

God’s other present to us through the Christ child is also the gift of peace. (For He shall be called: Prince of Peace)

In this title: Prince of Peace we see the highest title of all! He is to be the answer to man’s deepest desire and need, the need for peace!

But please take note church: that there cannot be any peace, not in this world or in your heart without the Prince of Peace.

You see church, family and friends…. most people are eager to have peace that can be understood, based on:

Financial stability
Good health
A happy marriage
A sound retirement plan

But the peace that Jesus Christ gives as the Prince of Peace, cannot be won on the battle field, or purchased with money or secured through medicine or cannabis oil but can only be obtained by a completely surrendered heart! (No two waysabout that!)

It is only the Prince of Peace that can bring peace from God and make us at peace with God!

His peace will allow us to surrender to the rule of love(1 Cor. 13)
His peace is the peace to have fellowshipwith God our Father (Koinonia)
His peace is the peace of Self-controlthrough spiritual and divine (Godly) energy
His peace is the peace of assurancethat our sins are forgiven and forgotten
His peace is the peace that is far aboveall human understanding, amidst calamity, tribulations and storms!

My question to you all this morning is simply this:

Are you yearning (longing) for His peace to fill and flood your heart?

Why not surrender to the child “born to us,” the Prince of Peace?

You see church the basic sin of all mankind is the rejection of the Lordship of God and the rejection of His Son the Saviour born to us.

People foolishly believe that they can find the highest happiness and contentment in ways other than the ways of God. (This is only a temporary solution)

But it is only (AND ONLY) when we are willing to make the Christ child (Jesus) Lord of our lives, that we will find Him to be the Prince of Peace who can and will bring joy and salvation into our hearts and lives.

“For unto us a child is born…”Jesus, born as a baby, preached as a child, was killed as a man, rose as a victor and will be coming back as a King!

Amen!
