THE ANOINTING OF THE HOLY SPIRIT
1. THE ANOINTING SETS US FREE
Isaiah 10:27 (NKJV), “It shall come to pass in that day That his burden will be taken away from your shoulder, And his yoke from your neck, And the yoke will be destroyed because of the anointing oil.”
A yoke is a wooden beam that is put on either an ox or oxen to pull something along and an outside party controls them.
Satan tries to put yokes on us and he attaches things to them like sickness, depression, broken relationships, poverty, bad habits, bondages, etc.
Sometimes yokes are things like sin, fear, negativity, worry, unforgiveness, generational curses, religious beliefs, etc Sometimes these ‘burdens’ are symptoms of a deeper root cause.
John 10:10 (NIV), “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.”
2. THE ANOINTING EMPOWERS US FOR MINISTRY
Luke 4:18-19 (NIV), “The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to set the oppressed free, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.”
Acts 10:38 (NIV), “How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and power, and how he went around doing good and healing all who were under the power of the devil, because God was with him.”
Acts 1:8 (NKJV), “But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.””
POWER = specially, miraculous power (usually by implication, a miracle itself): — ability, abundance, might(-ily, -y, -y deed), (worker of) miracle(-s), power, strength, mighty (wonderful) work.
3. THE ANOINTING ENABLES US
SAUL:
1 Samuel 10:1 (NIV), “Then Samuel took a flask of olive oil and poured it on Saul’s head and kissed him, saying, “Has not the Lord anointed you ruler over his inheritance?”
1 Samuel 10:6 (NIV), “The Spirit of the Lord will come powerfully upon you, and you will prophesy with them; and you will be changed into a different person.”
BEZALEL
Exodus 31:1-5 (NIV), “Then the Lord said to Moses, “See, I have chosen Bezalel son of Uri, the son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah, and I have filled him with the Spirit of God, with wisdom, with understanding, with knowledge and with all kinds of skills — to make artistic designs for work in gold, silver and bronze, to cut and set stones, to work in wood, and to engage in all kinds of crafts.”
4. THE ANOINTING GUIDES AND PROTECTS US
1 John 2:26-27 (NIV), “I am writing these things to you about those who are trying to lead you astray. As for you, the anointing you received from him remains in you, and you do not need anyone to teach you. But as his anointing teaches you about all things and as that anointing is real, not counterfeit—just as it has taught you, remain in him.”
5. THE ANOINTING IS FOR EVERYONE OF US TODAY
Acts 1:8 (NIV), “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”

6. WHY DON’T MORE BELIEVERS EXPERIENCE THE ANOINTING?
They don’t realize that they have it
They don’t really desire it.
You can’t be casual about the anointing.
We need to be stirred to be hungry for the anointing.
“God I need You.”
7. HOW TO DEVELOP THE ANOINTING
Read your Bible, not as a forgetful hearer.
Be led by the Holy Spirit. Wait on Him, listen to Him, obey Him.
Believe that the anointing will work through you and produce supernatural results like Jesus had in different ways, time and time again.
Whatever you do, do with excellence. Put your all into it.
