“My worship relationship” – by Pastor Kobus Massyn
Intro: The golden thread we get is God’s love story through the bible.
Sermon:
Ruth ( a story about Naomi)
The names in this story plays a role in the setting of the scene
Elimelech (meaning My God is King)
Naomi (meaning Pleasant one / sweetness)
Moab (the desirable land)
Mahlon (Meaning sickness) Ruth (meaning companion / friend)
Chilion (meaning Finished, complete, perfect) Orpah (meaning neck)
Boaz (strength)
Obed (worshipper)
19So the two of them went on until they came to Bethlehem. And when they arrived in Bethlehem, the whole city was Bethlehem was a small city where everyone probably knew everyone else, and Naomi’s husband may have been a prominent man in the city.stirred because of them, and the women asked, “Is this Naomi?” 20She said to them, “Do not call me Naomi (sweetness); call me Mara (bitter), for the Almighty has caused me great grief and bitterness. 21I left full [with a husband and two sons], but the Lord has brought me back empty. Why call me Naomi, since the Lord has testified against me and the Almighty has afflicted me?”
Please note that:
Making their own plan to move to the Desirable land failed. ( not accepting God as your King, save place, refuge is dangerous)
The comforter / Friend will always remain with you. Making new opportunities available.
Only Naomi felt Bitter but to God she was still Sweetness.
Boaz /Strength Bought her form hopelessness and restored her again.
Closing:
Ruth 4:17
The neighbor women gave him a name, saying, “A son (grandson) has been born to Naomi.” They named him Obed (worshiper). He is the father of Jesse, the father of David [the ancestor of Jesus Christ].
Our worship is a lifestyle in relationship with the Lord.
