I’m Still Standing

I’m Still Standing!

I greet you all in Jesus name & trust that you will all have an amazingly blessed time, in the presence of our Father, amen?

Tonight I would like to slot in & “continue” on what Pastor George preached last week, Topic: “No matter what, I choose Jesus!”

You see church, family & friends, when I make that faith statement, I will be able to say, after trails & tribulations of many kinds, that: “I’m still standing”

So my sermon topic for tonight is simply this “I’m still standing!” (But by the grace of God)

I’ve shared this with our south church 2 weeks ago, but really believe that there are people here tonight that are here not by coincidence, but by Devine appointment, that should hear this too, amen?

Start my sermon with a faith statement….

Why?                    “I’m Still Standing”              Amen?

I survived, because the fire inside of me, burnt brighter than the fire around me!”

Psalm 92: 12 – 13 (Amp) – 12The righteous will flourish like the date palm [long-lived, upright, and useful]; they will grow like a cedar in Lebanon [majestic and stable]. 13Planted in the house of the Lord, they will flourish in the courts of our God.

The Righteous: Those who are in right-standing with God and obeying His commandments will be like a palm tree (flexible, being able to bend to the ground for hours on end but bounce back to an upright position) and they will grow like the cedar of Lebanon (strong & majestic).

Cedars (tree) of Lebanon: Strong and durable, symbolizing resilience and immortality (immovable)

Cedars of Lebanon – Used to build King Solomons palace
Cedars of Lebanon – Used to build ships

Strong & Durable!

So, today I would like to inform you, that we all will face the rain sometime. Amen?

Matthew 5:45b (NIV) – He causes His sun to rise on the evil and the good and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous.

You see, the same storm will come to the righteous and the unrighteous, we all will face the storms of life!

But Jesus went on to tell that the man whose house was built on a solid foundation, a rock, was still standing after the storm! Amen?

In my daily dealings with customers, suppliers, believers, and people in general, I see many people giving up, battling in life, ready to throw in the towel.

But I can just remind you that the enemy doesn’t have the last say, GOD DOES!

You may be knocked down but not knocked out! After the storm has cleared up and the dust settled, you’ll be standing amen? (Well, you’re supposed to!) Amen?

Church today we can all look back at things, situations that was supposed to defeat us, but “I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord.”

For whatever the enemy has meant no harm, God will turn it around for His good. Yes, amen?

Many here today can testify of how God lifted them up from that pit of depression, loss, pain, anxiety, and put a new song in their hearts!

You see church when you have a “history” with God, you won’t be uprooted by the storm along your way, Amen?

They may shake you, rattle and roll you, but you will be standing, Amen?

Ephesians 6:13 (NIV) – Therefore put on the fuller armour of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand.

Stand your ground, be strong and courageous! Amen Church?

Referring to the palm trees, I read up on an article that stated that when hurricane Harvey hit Texas in 2017, many trees from different species were uprooted and blown all over the place.

This made me think of how many people from different backgrounds, cultures, shapes and sizes, non-believers and even believers, are blown from pillar to post during tough and challenging times. Yes, it’s true!

But the palm tree was “designed” to withstand and weather the storm. God put the “bounce back” into the palm tree and He can do it for you too, Amen?

Remember that song: “It is no secret, what God can do”

Here is a Reminder: Storms are not “designed” to last forever but are all temporary in nature … and so are the difficulties and trails that you are facing church!

They are only seasonal: (personal testimony of 9 months of storms) …. But “I’m still standing!”

I have something to hold onto for I choose Jesus. The one thing that I’ve learnt Church, is that when you’ve passed through the storm, you’ll be a much stronger person….yes?

You may not like it, but storms are there to test you, your character, integrity and even your faith.

Faith: “I don’t know how, but cannot wait to see how God will get me through this storm”. Amen!

You see the crux of the matter is this, church…. (Please listen) the palm tree has its roots wide and deep. When strong winds come the palm tree’s roots are not weakened but stretched and made stronger! Yes, indeed….amen?

There are many of you, going through some tough times right now; disappointments, loss, suffering and even pain.

And it’s difficult to see how you’ll make it through another day…

When you’re sad and its hurting, and you cannot see anything coming from a situation that brought you so much unhappiness; learn this lesson from the palm tree, designed to be tossed from side to side, bend to the ground but having the ability to bounce right back! Amen! Praise You Jesus!

Church, there’s a lot to be learned from this fact, and it’s a concept that we can all apply to our own lives.

There’s always going to be a storm, hurricanes etc. but it’s up to us to decide 1. How we act or re-act
2. Do differently after the storm, amen?

So instead of feeling damaged and broken after the storm, a difficulty, a challenge; allow the storm and wind to bend and stretch you, making you grow stronger!

Proverbs 24:16 (NIV) – For though the righteous fall seven times, they rise again, but the ungodly stumble when calamity strikes.

You see church, It is this new strength or the ability to get up that will allow you to be resilient and bounce back just like the palm tree does.

Conclude: When things get tough, don’t give in or give up, but give it a good bend, so that your tests will become your testimony! No matter what may come against you, when it’s all said and done, you will be standing!

Say it with me: “I’m still standing!” Amen!!

Benediction: Romans 15:13 (Amp) – May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing [through the experience of your faith] that by the power of the Holy Spirit you will abound in hope and overflow with confidence in His promises.

                                                                                     Amen!

I speak & declare this, over each & every life, in Jesus name, amen!
