Forward and Onward

God gives us a New Year, so we can look forward to an active, effective growing year.

Forward and Onward (our theme for 2021)

” Start where you are. Use what you have. Do what you can”

FORWARD: with consistency, moving ahead, making progress with effective fruitful service

ONWARD: with without distraction, advancing, taking territory building the kingdom

Here is the test to find out whether your mission on earth is finished.

If you’re alive, it isn’t

What good is living a life you have been given by God if all you do is stand in one place (Truth is if you are not moving forward, you’re falling back)

For all who proclaim Jesus as Saviour will have to stretch to themselves to move forward and onward. (It’s not automatic!)

Your calling extends beyond the grave. What you do this side of the grave matters

Your mission in life isn’t through until you’re through.

Some people dream of worthy accomplishments, while others stay awake and do them.

James 1:25 (Amp) – But he who looks carefully into the faultless law, the [law] of liberty, and is faithful to it and perseveres in looking into it, being not a heedless listener who forgets but an active doer [who obeys], he shall be blessed in his doing (his life of obedience).

Being clear minded about your calling – is an incredible thing:

It motivates and sustains you.
It gives you direction and helps you know your priorities.
It propels you forward and onward.
It gives you energy.
It makes you enthusiastic.

John Maxwell talks about the Law of the Mirror.

When you look in the mirror you must see how valuable you are.

How you see yourself and your calling is extremely important

If you see yourself on a scale of 1-10 only as a ‘4’ then you’ll only reach for, aim at and dream to the level of a ‘4’.

The number you put on your head is the way you are going to treat yourself, and……that’s the way you will see and treat others.

So many focus on what they can’t do – Focus on what you can do.

That’s why God gave us His word so that we can dream higher and set our value to a ‘10’. (we progress to perfection)

This is not about ‘positive thinking’ or ‘possibility thinking’.

It’s about ‘reality thinking’.

Ephesians 3:20 (Amp) “NOW to Him Who, by (in consequence of) the [action of His] power that is at work within us, is able to [carry out His purpose and] do superabundantly, far over and above all that we [dare] ask or think [infinitely beyond our highest prayers, desires, thoughts, hopes, or dreams]”

This is about having a ‘10’ attitude. You may only experience a 4 or 6 in your life right now, but your potential and purpose is a ‘10’

What you need to know is that “Your Dream to succeed in your calling becomes a reality when we keep our commitments to them.”

You’re never too old, too young, too poor or too rich for God to make your dream and calling into a reality.

Most people think of themselves as being dedicated to achieving their dreams and calling. (Moving Forward and Onward)

But what does that really mean?

What must you do to achieve your God-given dream?

What will you have to give up in order to go up?

What daily disciplines will you have to develop to make your dream a reality?

Question: Are you doing them now?

The day you quit being excited about your future is the day you quit living.

You have seeds of greatness on the inside.  There is so much more for you to accomplish.

Commitment starts with what you’re doing today.

If you’re not acting, you’re not really committed.

If God has left you on this planet, He has a purpose for you to fulfil.

You will know its God’s dream if:

It is bigger than you.
You can’t let it go. Jeremiah 20:9 (NIV) – But if I say, “I will not mention his word or speak anymore in his name,” his word is in my heart like a fire, a fire shut up in my bones.  I am weary of holding it in; indeed, I cannot.
You are willing to give everything for it.
It will last forever.
It meets a need nobody else has met.
It brings glory to God.

To put it in simple terms…

If you are in Christ, you are called to dream big and fulfil God’s purpose – and God’s purpose will never fail.

Therefore, all our dreams towards that purpose will not ultimately fail.

Psalm 37:23-24; 31 (Amp) – 23 The steps of a [good] man are directed and established by the Lord when He delights in his way [and He busies Himself with his every step].  24 Though he falls, he shall not be utterly cast down, for the Lord grasps his hand in support and upholds him.

31 The law of his God is in his heart; none of his steps shall slide.

For 2021 to be a year of living out your calling – Moving Forward and Onward it will take commitment and sacrifice.

But it will be worth it all.
