This is War

THIS IS WAR

Everyone of us are in a WAR whether we believe it or not.

THE LOYALTY OF THE SOLDIER IS PROVED IN BATTLE. – Martin Luther

Joel 3:9 (Amp) – Proclaim this among the [pagan] nations: Prepare a war! Stir up the mighty men! Let all the men of war come near, let them come up!  (Remember Gideon started off with 30 000 men and ends up with 300 mighty men.)

Stir, draw near, come up These are all action words: It’s something we DO (Close up and personal)

Proverbs 20:18 (Amp) – Plans are established by counsel; so make war [only] with wise guidance.

(Make sure you first take counsel in God’s word)

On our spiritual journey there are many areas in our lives where we can come up short and fail.

I believe God is wanting to make us aware of important areas that:

We mostly overlook.
Or a trap we generally fall into.

And this is it.  When all seems to go well in time of peace, time of experiencing blessings, when things are just fine, we tend to sit back and relax.

Even take God’s blessings for granted.

We need to be prepared for war, in peace time and wartime.

A Naval officer, when asked why he retired early as a Captain and left the service early, he replied: “I hate to admit it, but I like the wartime Navy a lot better than the peace one.  Not that I like to fight, but in wartime we knew why we were there and what our purpose was.  In Peacetime nobody seems to know what we’re doing”. We’re in a real war every day!!!

It is in time of peace, and comfort, and Idleness that we must be preparing ourselves for the unexpected.

1 Peter 5:8(Amp) – Be sober [well balanced and self-disciplined], be alert and cautious at all times. That enemy of yours, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion [fiercely hungry], seeking someone to devour.

The most dangerous part of wartime is a time of peace. Because you never really know what your enemy is scheming next.  That is why we must always be alert, awake, preparing for war.
1 Peter 5:8-9 (LB) – “8Be careful, watch out for attacks from satan, your great enemy. He prowls around like a hungry roaring lion, looking for some victim to tear apart. 9Stand firm when he attacks.”
Stand firm means, it’s what you are up to, what you are doing before the attacks come. How are you keeping your life active and standing firm? Don’t only try to stand firm when the attack comes!

Warning – If you don’t heed the warning, you will be defeated all the time.

Proverbs 12:15(Amp) – The way of the [arrogant] fool [who rejects God’s wisdom] is right in his own eyes, But a wise and prudent man is he who listens to counsel.

2 Corinthians 2:11 – To keep satan from getting the advantage over us, for we are not ignorant of his intentions.

While I am not awake – the enemy will get an advantage over me.

Question: Is the only time you do any deep praying or warfare when you find yourself in a hole.  Sadly, this happens to far too many of God’s mighty warriors.

Ephesians 4:27 – “And do not give the devil a foothold.”  You try to move when your feet are tied – it is called being defeated.

A cool calm mind (while it is peaceful) thinks better than a mind in the middle of war. The Military Seals are trained to be clear minded in time of war.

We need to continually be preparing for war. (Here is a very good reason)

Revelation 12:11-12(Amp) – 11And they overcame and conquered him because of the blood of the Lamb and because of the word of their testimony, for they did not love their life and renounce their faith even when faced with death. 12Therefore rejoice, O heavens and you who dwell in them [in the presence of God]. Woe to the earth and the sea because the devil has come down to you in great wrath, knowing that he has only a short time [remaining]!

The enemy is continually strategizing, planning and scheming an attack.

His intention is your failure, to give up – become discouraged, to go back to your old life.

He doesn’t want you to succeed.

Every trial, temptation, offence, unforgiveness, bitterness and anger is designed to weaken your position – so he can move in.

He has a demon with his sights on you. He knows when you’re getting slack, he has noticed a long way off already.

Ecclesiastes 10:18 (Spreuke) – “By much slothfulness the building decayeth, and through idleness of hands the house leaks.”

Proverbs 25:19 – “Confidence in an unfaithful man in time of trouble is like a broken tooth or a foot out of joint.”  (Defeated).

You cannot be useful to any army

Just think about this – is it not maybe the reason that your life right now is in turmoil because you did not prepare for war?  You have just allowed things to slip, like –

Your prayer time.

Reading the word

Pressing in to change

Doing it your own way

You have just become slack.

We need to be armed and dangerous.

Ephesians 6:13 – “Put on God’s complete armor and stand.”

When attack is on or comes – this is no time to wonder where you put your armor

Belt of truth (Knowing the word)
Breastplate of righteousness (integrity)
Shoes to stand firm – to spread the Word.
Shield of faith – quenches the arrows.
Helmet of salvation (don’t wonder whether you are saved or not.)
Sword, which is the Word.

1 Timothy 6:12 – “Fight the good fight of faith.”

This is a time to prepare for war – not time to relax.  To ensure we walk into the “MORE” Jesus has promised us.

We need to be even more tuned into our high calling and purpose than ever before.

When God says to His church (Joel 3:9 – Stir up, draw near, come up) – sit up – take note – beware – it is for a very good reason.

Our obedience will unleash His provision – for the vision!

Psalm 138:8 – “The Lord will fulfill His purpose for me – your love endures forever.  Don’t abandon the works of your hands”.
