To stay effective, active, and fruitful:
Stay in season* with God
*Season is what you’re going through now.
We all go through seasons.
Pastor George Lehman
(A productive life is not an accident.)
Because if you stay in season with God and commit to “no matter what” – “whatever it takes” & “never give up”,
I guarantee, you will sense a satisfaction, a peace, an assurance, a usefulness, an effectiveness, and a valuable-ness in God’s hands like you have never experienced before
You can only hear, sense, grow and experience God to the level that you allow the seasons of God to have an effect on your life.
When you’re being disobedient and making choices that are causing you to be in a wrong season, you won’t receive much, therefore, you won’t grow, and you’ll stay average – Saved but that’s about all!!
Galatians 6:9 (Amp) – And let us not lose heart and grow weary and faint in acting nobly* and doing right, for in due time and at the appointed season we shall reap if we do not loosen and relax our courage and faint.
*A way to show fine personal quality and high moral principles.
There is such a thing as:
(Like Paul says):
Growing – weary, tiring, don’t want to endure & persevere any longer – [sat];
Growing – faint in acting nobly, preventing you from receiving God best for your life;
Growing – by not doing right, not doing things God’s way.
Here’s a result of negative growth in a person who is never content in their season:
It was Spring, but it was Summer I wanted – the warm days and the great outdoors.
It was Summer, but it was Autumn I wanted – the color of leaves, and the cool, dry air.
It was Spring, but it was Winter I wanted – the beautiful snow and holiday season.
I was a child, but it was adulthood I wanted – the freedom and the respect.
I was twenty, but it was thirty I wanted – to be mature and sophisticated.
I was middle-aged, but it was thirty I wanted – the youth and free spirit.
I was retired, but it was middle-age I wanted – the presence of mind without limitations.
My life was over, but I never got what I wanted. – Jason Lehman
Ecclesiastes 3:1-2 (Amp) – To everything there is a season, and a time for every matter or purpose under heaven: A time to be born and a time to die, a time to plant and a time to pluck up what is planted.
We see Seasons in nature – things come forth (grow), fulfill their purpose and die.
God designed the seasons to fulfill this purpose.
Genesis 8:22 (Amp) – While the earth remains, seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease.
It’s a natural but spiritual principle too
Our whole life is made up of seasons as well, so:
What is a season: It’s a time frame that has been allotted for something to grow and develop and produce its creative purpose?
God sends the different seasons to teach us different lessons.
As we “grow in grace”, we don’t know what’s in us, unless the seasons expose our character our(root structure).
Seasons help us LEARN who and what we are during:
times of trials, difficulty
times of prosperity, abundance
times of drought, emptiness
Not staying in season with God will produce: Negative growth.
Galatians 6:9 – do not loose heart and grow weary.
We will miss out and not capture that which was meant for us to learn.
The danger is that it can cause permanent damage to the crop.
There are no shortcuts to maturity.
Seasons are designed to mature us.
If you pluck the blossoms you must do without the fruit.
The seasons (we will experience in our life):
A: SPRING (you’ve come out of a tough season – tough times pass, BUT tough people stay, and don’t give up) – Hopeful, emerging, budding, with great promise! You’re wiser, bolder and more fruitful
Fruitful, blessings, growing, abundance, fruitful
Weakening, fading, cooling
Cold, lifeless, dead
For every Spring and Summer we need an Autumn and Winter.
As a result of this truth many Christians get out of season with God. They end up showing negative growth.
Here are 5 keys to remember about seasons:
#1 Do the proper work of the season (gather? plant? water? reap?)
James 5:7 (NIV) – Be patient then, brothers, until the Lord’s coming. See how the farmer waits for the land to yield its valuable crop and how patient he is for the autumn and spring rains.
You can’t wait for what you don’t plant. No seed – no harvest!
Proverbs 20:4 (NIV) = A sluggard does not plough in season; so at harvest time he looks but finds nothing.
You look at a successful Christian and think I really would like to be like him or her but what effort are you putting in, you sow little and expect so much.
#2 Always be prepared, no matter what the season
We must be projecting the character and message of Jesus not only in good times (seasons) but during the bad season too.
2 Tim 4:2 (NIV) – Preach the Word; be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke and encourage-with great patience and careful instruction.
#3 Wait for the season of blessing
Don’t try to create your own blessings. Don’t run ahead of God!!!
Ecclesiastes 3:14 (Amp) – I know that whatever God does, it endures forever; nothing can be added to it nor can anything be taken from it, for God does it so that men will fear and worship Him [with awe-filled reverence, knowing that He is God].
A prophetic word pointing to Jesus.
Ezekiel 34:26 (Amp) – And I will make them and the places round about My hill a blessing, and I will cause the showers to come down in their season; there shall be showers of blessing [of good insured by God’s favor].
God is closest to you in your lowest moment – your most difficult season.
#4 There is a season of fruit for the righteous
Psalm 1:3 (NIV) – He (the righteous) is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither, whatever he does prospers.
Staying in season with God brings consistency [vastigheid] in your relationship.
#5 God can change your season
Daniel 2:20-21 (Amp) – Daniel answered, blessed be the name of God forever and ever! For wisdom and might are His! He changes the times and the seasons; He removes kings and sets up kings. He gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge to those who have understanding!
Don’t you think it’s about time you made up your mind that God is in full control?
God is for you, and He truly has your best interest in mind.
Don’t end up quitting or cooling off along the way because you don’t like your present season OR because you don’t understand your season.
God is looking for seasoned warriors (not for those who worry in every season)
Galatians 6:9 (Amp) – … for in due time and at the appointed season we shall reap.
Hang on, Summer is coming – fruitful blessings, growing, abundance, effectiveness, usefulness.
